AMD’s next generation RDNA 3 high-end desktop GPUs will have its launch event imminently. As a build-up to this, Angstronomics can reveal the first image of the Navi 31 silicon at the heart of these graphics cards. This brief article will not delve into the details, but you can read our previous article to find out more.

AMD Navi 31 package and chiplets. Image edited.

We can see the layout of the single GCD and 6 MCD’s flanking it, with the dark overmold covering the organic interposer that connects the chiplets together. This is all attached to a 55 x 47.5 mm ABF substrate and packaged with a wide stiffener ring and various decoupling capacitors.

Performance, power and price will be revealed at the launch event. Unfortunately, our A0 performance profiling results were not indicative of production samples, so we have refrained from detailing our findings publicly. Silicon and board cost is definitely lower than NVIDIA’s RTX 4090, so let’s see where the two Navi 31 SKUs will be priced.
